Developing Technical Training in Egypt A Proposed Model for Developing a Unified National System of Technical Education in Partnership with the Private Sector

مركز سياسات للبحوث والدراسات الاستراتيجية

Introduction

Without a robust technical education system, the Egyptian economy cannot attract the levels of foreign direct investment that policymakers hope for.

Furthermore, without private sector involvement in funding and implementing technical education and training programs, the output of technical education will not meet the needs of the private sector in a rapidly changing and highly competitive environment.

This study attempts to answer the key question: How can technical education be developed, and how can the output of Egyptian technical schools be transformed into a major driver of both domestic and foreign investment, in the shortest possible time and at the lowest direct cost to taxpayers?

This study is divided into several sections as follows:

First: The concept of vocational training, its importance, and its challenges

Second: The current state of vocational training in Egypt

Third: Features of the proposed unified vocational training system

Fourth: Private sector involvement in corporate social responsibility initiatives

Fifth: A proposed model for a public-private partnership to develop vocational training.
